Dr Savita Rangarajan is an internationally known clinician in the field of haemophilia, haemostasis & thrombosis. She held the position of Director of the Southern Haemophilia Network between 2013 and 2016, has received a nomination to the World Federation of Haemophilia board and holds various other positions nationally and internationally.

Dr Rangarajan commenced her career as a haemophilia consultant in 2000 at St Thomas' Hospital in London, before joining Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in 2008 to build and lead on the haemophilia, haemostasis and thrombosis service, which led to the development of the Southern Haemophilia Network.

Her main area of interest is management of complex patients with inhibitors, and the delivery of cost effective models of care for all patients with bleeding and thrombotic disorders.

As well as her work in the UK, Dr Rangarajan also works on international projects. She led in the twinning of the Haemophilia, Haemostasis and Thrombosis Centre in Basingstoke, and the Khartoum Haemophilia Clinic in Sudan, to help develop care for patients with bleeding disorders. On the 3rd March 2015 Dr Rangarajan led on setting up the first Comprehensive Care Centre in Mumbai, India, and is also lead in an additional twinning program with Pune, India. 

She has many peer-reviewed publications and is actively involved in many clinical trials in the field of haemophilia and haemostasis. She is a principal investigator for many clinical trials in haemostasis and thrombosis.

Dr Rangarajan is fluent in four languages, has a deep interest in Hindu philosophy and is an avid reader of ancient texts. She also plays Carnatic classical music on the veena, a stringed instrument. She is a keen gardener and cook.
